Erwin Kempeneers has been working for more than 35 years in the Printing Industry.
Trained as an electro-mechanical engineer, in his early career he developed and managed dedicated software for security printing (banknote design), decoration software (Arabesque), hardware accelerators and other production-oriented software. Realising the potential of industrial digital inkjet printing, Erwin had already begun research and development in 1998, resulting in the production of a single pass industrial digital inkjet printing press. This first UV single-pass printing engine, named the DOTRIX engine, was presented at DRUPA 2000. It was able to print a continuous width of 14 cm at 24 m/min. Two years later the engine was printing an amazing 63 cm width - the first single-pass wide-format UV-curable CMYK press had been born. Since that innovation, over ten years ago, many other single pass printing engines have been developed for various industrial applications. |
